Sydney Red Gum
Angophora costata
Iconic specimen tree with highly ornamental form
FEATURES: A large, wide-spreading, evergreen tree with a handsome, rugged appearance. The majestically gnarled trunk sheds outer layers in irregular flakes to reveal orange and pink new bark, and the branches are attractively contorted. New leaves emerge reddish-brown and age to bright green, highlighting profuse displays of creamy-white flowers in clusters throughout summer.
CONDITIONS: Does best in full sun and tolerates a wide range of climate and soil conditions including coastal exposure. Slightly frost tender.
